Tomorrow's Store

Set up in 2013 and tucked away just around the corner from Liverpool Street station, Tomorrow’s Store is a shop that is entirely stocked by young people who have been through The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme. The businesses set up by these people with the support of The Prince’s Trust are usually pretty unknown to the general public when they first start out and Tomorrow’s Store gives them an platform to get their products onto the high street in a Central London location. What an amazing opportunity.

When my programme tutor told me about it I thought I should definitely check it out to see what people a little further down the line than me are producing. I wasn’t sure where it was even though I’ve walked down Eldon Street quite a few times, but as I turned the corner walking from Moorgate to Liverpool Street I instantly recognised it from around 50 metres away. I’ve obviously been staring at The Prince’s Trust logo too much over the last couple of months while I’ve been working through my business plan.

Inside the shop is an array of products as varied and impressive as any well established retailer’s. There are handmade pieces of jewellery, a whole corner dedicated to baby products such as cute handmade bobble hats, as well as greetings cards, furniture and all sorts of other produce dreamt up by the imaginative people on the programme. With such a cool range of products on offer it has even become a bit of a celebrity favourite with the likes of Kelly Hoppen of Dragon’s Den fame dropping in for “items that are entirely unique and one of a kind”.

All profits from Tomorrow Store are reinvested in The Prince’s Trust to fund more programmes for young people with budding business ideas, and to help them to get their ventures up and running. Who knows, one day Silly Cushions may be able to help raise money to allow someone else to get the amazing support that I’ve been getting since I started the programme myself.

The shop stocks products from different sellers each month to give everyone a chance to get their name out and make some money. This ever revolving stocking system means the shop is definitely worth frequent visits to see the huge variety of cool individual gifts and trinkets on offer. You could be one of the first people to buy a product that will go on to take the country by storm. Be aware however that if you like something you should buy it there and then because the chances are it won’t be there the next time you go in.

(Alternatively, you could just visit the website - www.princestrust-store.co.uk - where all the products are displayed for all to see and buy.)

Tomorrow’s Store is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am-7pm and can be found at 9 Eldon Street, London, EC2M 7LS.
